How much sod do I need?

To estimate how much sod you need, measure the length and width of the area you want to cover and multiply them to get your total square footage. Then divide by 10 to estimate the number of rolls needed.

Examples:
Small townhome yard (~500 sq ft) = 50 rolls
Average small backyard (~800 sq ft) = 80 rolls
Typical suburban backyard (~1,200 sq ft) = 120 rolls
Large backyard (~2,000 sq ft) = 200 rolls
Full front + back for many detached homes (~3,000 sq ft) = 300 rolls

These examples are rough estimates only. Lawn sizes can vary significantly, so we recommend measuring your lawn carefully before ordering.

Maintenance
To maintain newly installed sod, it is important to water frequently and deeply after installation, mow at a height of 2-2.5 inches and fertilize 4-6 weeks after installation with a fertilizer high in nitrogen and low in phosphorus.

Kindly note, a $45 deposit fee is included with every sod pallet. This amount will be refunded upon the return of the pallet to us.

Our Environmental Impact

At Mountainview, we are committed to sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices that enhance soil health and biodiversity. We've transitioned to using biologically active compost made from natural resources like pulp, spent hay, grass clippings, and chicken manure, significantly reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers. 

Our composting process nurtures living soils, supporting healthier turf. Additionally, we integrate livestock rotation, grazing cows, chickens, and eventually sheep, to fertilize and revitalize our fields naturally. It’s all part of our effort to take better care of the land while growing the best sod possible.
