Commercial Sod
Our parents founded Mountainview Turf in partnership with our grandfather. This legacy provides us with the experience and commitment to produce the best sod possible. We're turf geeks who’ve been honing science and our craft for over 46 years. Our blend is carefully crafted from four varieties of Kentucky bluegrass. Every year, we select those with the best:
- Colour vibrancy
- Quick spring green-up
- Minimal fertilizer requirements
- Traffic resistance
- Heat and drought tolerance
- Insect, weed, and disease resistance
- Healthy growth habits
Our Environmental Impact
At Mountainview, we are committed to sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices that enhance soil health and biodiversity. We've transitioned to using biologically active compost made from natural resources like pulp, spent hay, grass clippings, and chicken manure, significantly reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers.
Our composting process nurtures living soils, supporting healthier turf. Additionally, we integrate livestock rotation, grazing cows, chickens, and eventually sheep, to fertilize and revitalize our fields naturally. It’s all part of our effort to take better care of the land while growing the best sod possible.

Maintenance
To keep your sod healthy and thriving, water it deeply and regularly after installation, mow at a height of 2 to 2.5 inches, and apply a high-nitrogen, low-phosphorus fertilizer 4 to 6 weeks in. Be sure to pull any emerging weeds, aerate the lawn annually to promote root growth, and promptly repair any bare or thinning spots to maintain a lush, even appearance.
